Buy Limit Orders and Sell Limit Orders apply to both crypto and stocks. Your order will be executed at your target price, or better, if market volume allows.

  • Crypto - Limit orders are good until canceled.

  • Stock & ETFs - If placed while the market is open, orders will expire at market close. If placed outside of market hours, orders will be processed when the market opens and will expire at market close.

Buy Limit Order

When you create a buy limit order, the funds to pay for your trade will be reserved in your Domain Money Cash Account, or an ACH withdrawal from your external account will be initiated. These funds will not be available to make other trades while your limit order is outstanding. Here's how it works:

  • Crypto or stock is purchased at your limit price or lower

  • Your limit price should be set to the maximum price you are willing to pay per share

Example

  • EXAMPLECOIN is currently trading at $20 per share, but you only want to pay $15 per share at most. You would set your limit price to $15.

  • If EXAMPLECOIN drops from $20 to $15 or lower, and there are shares available, your order will fill (in full or part) at $15 or lower.

  • If EXAMPLECOIN doesn’t drop to $15, your order won’t execute.

Sell Limit Order

  • Crypto or stock is sold at your limit price or higher.

  • Your limit price should be set to the minimum price you are willing to accept for selling your shares.

  • Sell Limit Orders can only be submitted in units so we will automatically convert your order to be in units.

Example

  • EXAMPLECOIN is currently trading at $20 per share, but you want to receive at least $25 per share. You would set your limit price to $25.

  • If EXAMPLECOIN rises from $20 to $25 or higher, and there are shares available, your order should be filled (in full or part) at your limit price or higher.

  • If EXAMPLECOIN doesn’t rise to $25, your order won’t execute.

Canceling Limit Orders

  • You may cancel a limit order any time up until it is executed.

  • If it is executed in part, you may cancel the unexecuted portion of the order.
